Same Old Song

about

The esteemed David Newman helped me flesh this one out. Had the main chord progression, but not much else. Turned into some sort of garage rocky thing along the way.

lyrics

Listen up I gotta keep it simple
It might sound easy but its difficult
You've heard it all before what more can I do
Perhaps I've bitten off more than I can chew

I'm standing here and I have got to make you
Think I've got something to say that's new
So much to say but not a thing with my words
So why'm I singing huh, it sounds absurd

It's the only way I've found a way to say
Anything that ever makes any sense to me

Take a look at me and what do you see
Someone who's defeated easily?
Someone waiting for good luck to appear?
Someone waiting for it to be clear?

Not today, buddy, I'm out on my own
Nothing is ever set into stone
I'm gonna go reach out of my comfort zone
I'll be singing yeah when I'm alone

It's the only way I've found a way to say
Anything that ever makes any sense to me

I'm gonna try to kill two birds with one stone
Hopefully I don't wind up unknown
I can't just say it, its a complex thing
Maybe it'll work if I just sing

It's the only way I've found a way to say
Anything that ever makes any sense to me
